Favorite moments of my Pastry career

Sunday is a funday so why not highlight some of the cool things I have been able to do since I changed careers 14 years ago.

  1. I lived in the mountains of North Carolina and got to see fall at its finest 3 years in a row in LInville, North Carolina and work with my favorite boss ever, Mark Barber.

  2. I got to see a live Bear on my way into work (scary, but awesome at the same time)

  3. I got to fly home in a private jet from a little town in North Carolina from Mr. Ganley to surprise my mom for their anniversary. It was just me and the Pilot on the plane. Thanks Dad:)

  4. I got to ride a mechanical bull at my job in Palm beach while on the job, because a wedding that we had requested one.

  5. I got to see Lionel Richie perform at the Everglades Club in Palm beach where I worked for 2 winters.

  6. I got to help build a life-size gingerbread house at Sea Island in Georgia.

  7. I got to work at a 5 star restaurant (Aqueous) at Nemacolin.

  8. I got to go zip lining for the first time ever at Nemacolin in PA and stay in a fancy hotel room with a butler as a perk to being an employee.

  9. I have been able to meet and work with and for Douglas Katz, and Michael Symon.

  10. I spent 2 1/2 years as the Pastry Chef of the Cleveland Museum of Art which allowed me to explore my creativity and pushed me way out of my comfort zone to be able to produce 1,000’s of desserts in sometimes a day or less (I don’t recommend this way, however without the push, I would not have grown as much as a Pastry Chef).

I moved to Charlotte, North Carolina in 2006 to pursue my passion for Pastry and have never looked back. There were good times, and stressful times, but I wouldn’t trade any of it for where it has led me today. I can look at all the stressful times, but there were also times that helped me grow as a Chef and Baker.

I hope you try to look at the positives as much as possible when you are stressed and struggling. They are there somewhere:)

xoxo
